Things Baby

Do I like making things for babies? I do! Grasshopper's teacher is expecting so I was excited to make a quilt, and a bag to go with it.

Four yards of material later I had this fun set ready.

I chose 5 inch squares and planned the pattern as I cut them.

The quilting is really nothing but a little stitch tied in strategic spots. I used embroidery thread for that. It was a new technique for me which turned out really well.
All is good in the sewing studio.

Headbands

It was my first time trying it and Grasshopper and her friend really like them.

I think I will make more. They are easy to make.

My Organizer

My first try at an organizer. I had admired Kelli when she was doing the Amy Butler projects.

I had plenty of time on Sunday and was ready for a challenge. I had looked at the instructions for a long time as I always do before undertaking a new, never done before, project.

So here it is. I am liking all this homemade stuff.

Little Bag

Lined.

I love that I learned how to line bags. It gives the bags more substance.

Decorated with buttons.

My Christmas Quilt

A friend from long ago encouraged me to learn to quilt. I am eternally grateful to that young woman, who was 19 at the time, for the gift of quilting.

I my goal was to stick to squares and figure out how to hand quilt, my only option.

It was a wild ride for me, the planning, imagining, and sewing, all on a very limited budget.

Everybody got a quilt for Christmas that year. This one is mine.
It reminds me of my girls as toddlers, and homemaking.
