Sneak peak

At the newest creation.

Modeled after the bold an bright one. Colors chosen by DH.

First pattern

I had the flannel. I picked out a funky pattern for fun. I made sleep shorts, a staple in my sleepwear wardrobe. It's easy.
I'm thinking I will just use this pattern to make everyday shorts.... uhmm.

Things I want my daughters to know

I am super picky about the books I read. Those that enthrall me must be very much out of the ordinary and have some reality to them as well as be heart touching.

I do want my daughters to be comfortable learning and testing limits as I did with this little blankie.

No, the book isn't about blankies. It's about what happens to 4 girls, daughters of a mother who dies of cancer but has much to say to them still. She does it in letters and a journal she kept for them from the time she became ill.

This blankie will go in the box of gifts I will give my daughters when they become mothers.

Plans

Stopped by JoAnn's to replenish the yarn stash and while there I grabbed a few patterns (5 for $5.00). Now, off to study them and mke something useful.

One more

Another blankie.
Smaller and softer.
For a little someone... maybe a little someone to come decades from now.

Lacy Cross

I've been inspired to pull out my "200 Crochet blocks" book and try out new patterns.

This is #19 - Lacy Cross.

I think there is hope that I will eventually decipher this crochet language.

My rainbow

Et voila! The border using all the colors in the squares.

With a little delicate edge.

She turned out big. Mind you, I rarely see the finished product when I start.

Awaiting cooler weather.

And the theme is: squares

I wish I could say something eloquent about this crochet groove that I am in, but all that seems real is that it connects me to my mother who has been gone for almost two years.

Crochet was her master talent and I often watched her study crochet books and embark on learning new things. I don't see myself doing the elaborate works she did, but I make works of love for my daughters as she did for hers.

Idea sources

These magazines that are no more came packed with color, imagination, and diversity.

I didn't like much of Mary Engelbreit's stuff, but the magazine was different. pouring over the rich pages is good for my soul. I'll be looking through this bunch soon.

Squares, squares, squares

This progressed from the pillow squares, and as I worked on the second square I envisioned a new blanket.
It's almost done now. I'm working on the border. TJ helped with the pattern.

Apron Strings revisited

I am finalizing the apron project.

The cards are aprons too.

Almost there. I like that I have become more so much more willing to give just because I care.

Ironing board cover

I found a cool book with simple a simple tutorial for an ironing board cover.

Ribbon is used instead of elastic to snug the cover around the board.

Like so...

Then it is tied... The material I chose for the top is a thin corduroy because it needed to be sturdy.

Thinking of aprons

This treasure was found in a kid church store and purchased with pretend money.
What a treasure.

Good thing the young owner is a crochet fan and will cherish it.
I studied the pattern and may..., possibly..., well..., make something similar... one day.
