Bags for Christmas

These are book bags made with a thicker material, and assembled in a whole new way. The handles were a pain to make, but I had cut out several pieces already so I stuck it out and followed the book's instructions.

I know a woman who is really into these kinds of bags. Hope she likes it.

The lining is the same material as the outside top piece of the bag.

This time the pouch is padded with the material I use when quilting.
It's a really good size for many things.

Inside. I like using colors that contrast, even clash with each other.

Pencil Carrier

One of my new sewing books had a picture of zipper sewing that lifted my fear of giving pouch making another try.

I needed to make gifts for teachers.

I made several. I am not quite at the stage of the learning curve where the skill is second nature.

Sewing marathon and more

I was prepared with books, materials, and energy. There was plenty of free time during this holiday weekend.
Elf shoes to be filled with candy.

Heart pillows for hanging.

A night time poncho for TV watching in bed.

The blanket for little sister who will get it at Christmas.
I love being able to accomplish my goals.

Crochet time

Cooler weather makes my hands fidgety, and my psychi brings forth memories of women in my family that had the affinity to work with yarn.

I went to Michaels' and picked out warmer colors this time.

I started a few blankets. I like having several works in process.

One of three.

Things to with one large piece of fabric

We are having a cold spell in the desert and it was nice to be in the backyard and do some cutting for projects to be worked on later.

I used this material for everything. There's the checkbook cover, the eye cover for sleeping, and the bathroom organizer.

My test Mozambique Kid doll will be floral too. Hey this may lead to a theme...
Now it is time to get the machine going.

Diaper Fold Pouch

There isn't much sewing going on here. Instead, I play with paper.

Using this tutorial to guide me I picked out my paper and started folding.

The plain pouch.

Decorated.

Snowden and Grasshopper made some too.

A gift with love

For a teacher.
I wanted it long so it could store longer papers.

The pocked is a bit off center, but it is a pocket.I used a thinner material as the lining. I enjoy the contrast in pattern too.

On a sunny afternoon

I finally got myself sewing even if for 1 hour only, in the afternoon. It was sunny and very quiet.
Buttons needed sewing, and rips needed mending.

While at it, I made a bag, most likely to go to Grasshopper's teacher who has been pretty cool and supportive.

My heart smiles, I breath deep and feel accomplished.

Hot diggity, Fall is here!

Grasshopper gets bored easily. We were discussing pumkins so I decided to we should have fun on Halloween, as I used to have when the girls were toddlers.

I pulled out the October magazines from my Martha Stewart collection. We looked for ideas.

We visited the website but have to wait to find templates because it is being upgraded.

Grasshopper started working on some of her decorations.

Tomorrow The Halloween box will come down and I will be all warm and fuzzy inside.

In the desert, Fall is created 'cause it just doesn't happen quite like I want it to.

Tote bag

I reached the point where I was no longer afraid to tackle that tote pattern and begin the process of creating my tote bag.

I cut the material on Saturday.

On Sunday I started sewing. One step at a time and a lot of pattern reviewing got me there.

I could not understand that inside pocket and made up my own thing.

My bag. It's 10 years of wishing finally coming true.

Fabric.com

When you zoom around in the world of craft blogs, much is discovered. I leaned about fabric.com and signed up for the daily specials email.

This opens up possibilities of some money savings.

I was thinking "garden" when I chose this material.

Maybe I'll venture into the land of lined bags.

This and that

We have been busy with the backyard, but there is always a little time for sewing.

These are 2 of 4 aprons. The other 2 are adult size. Lets get bbquing.

Finished the red fleece poncho. I have to find more pink pom pom border to finish the pink one.
