Supply hunting

I read Kelli's post and realized this place is just around the corner. I just didn't know it. I just never looked up to notice the store name.

The girls and I checked out the selection of fabric and purchased a few fat quarters.

I am thinking of working on increasing my fabric stash....

What fuels my sewing

Let there never be any doubt about my love for books.

As with any other love, I splurge on books about it, one book at a time. This is my "sewing" library. LOL, how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

A new set

The Arts Council for Youth is having its annual Arts Jam on February 28th. I am donating this set to be sold at the Silent Auction.

The bag.

The blanket.

The pouch.

Everything fits inside the bag.

The Alchemist

Snowden's Language Arts class is going on a trip to the AZ Renaissance Festival. For fun and extra credit, she decided to go in costume.

Off I go in search of material appropriate for a cape.

I ventured into pattern world, one piece at a time.

Sometimes impromptu decisions have to be made that were probably not in the directions.

And here we have the Alchemist in her glorious purple garb.

Made of scraps

As I cut away my eight inch squares for a quilt I working on, my creative wheels were turning and envisioned this:

It's purpose for now is to add to the happiness factor of my sewing studio.

Bib

I purchased Amy Butler's "little stiches for little ones" book, because I was looking for patterns for baby things.

I needed to complete this set with a bib. And I just plain wanted to make a bib.

I used Amy's pattern for the shape and stitched Velcro to finish it off.

A much wanted baby girl...

Is about to be born.

This cozy blanket made of fleece and flannel will be our gift to her.

Food shopping with style

This bag is lined with a gabardine material because I had it, as opposed to a a material with more plastic to it. This is a reusable grocery shopping bag that we shall bring on our visits to sprouts and Fresh & Easy.

Snowden loves this stuff.

It is just shy of the size of those reusable bags all supermarkets are selling.
