Softies - The Treeling

Grasshopper, the perpetual lover of small things, prods me on to make more. She possesses persistence for both of us. Here's the current Softies creation.

Laying it all out.

Leaves are attached.

Bow Wow

The dog from the Softies book. I used materials that I had. The blue corduroy was leftover from a dress the grandma had made for Snowden when she was three. I thought it would be a nice way to preserve the memory.

Two for two.

I had to embroider the nose because I didn't have black felt.

I made a bag!

It turns out that this isn't quite the technique I was supposed to learn in March's project of Finny and Donk's Sewing Adventure. What attracted me to the adventure was the disciplined opportunities to learn new things, and I have. I made a bag, lined and everything. I am happy, Momma.
Sans lining. Almost finished.

Done. My laptop has a transporter.

And squares make a blanket

Snowden learned how to cut squares using the tools quilters use. She arranged them and I did the sewing. I wanted her to do the quilting too and she did, but this was machine quilted, a task that turned out to be difficult. She now owns a soft, bright, biggerthanher, quilt she helped make.

The Sew Along - Pin Tucking

(photo borrowed from Africakelli 'cause I can't upload any. Ggrrr!)

I am not fond of table runners, so I decided to use the pin tucking technique on something I would use: a bag for my laptop. I will upload pictures when I figure out why Blogger is messing with me.

Houston, the PJs are finished.!

Snowden's pajama pants are finished. I finally made it to the store to buy the elastic. They turned out to be about 2 sizes bigger than what she needs right now, but by golly, they look cute.
