Oprah and crochet

Oprah decided to have someone other than herself on her magazine cover - Michelle Obama. I purchased the magazine and settled in the backyard with my new crochet bag and read about how the Obamas are adjusting to life in the White House. I am now mass producing those little crochet bags. I have four finished and two more almost done. Life is good.

"The Bag"

All done. I even ventured into making flowers.

And every time I make something for me, I must reproduce it for Snowden and Grasshopper.

They chose the colors.

They are absolutely the cutest things. Easter baskets anyone?

Homemade gifts

For a baby boy due to be born in June.

I used fleece on one side and patchwork on the other. The quilting is only an embroidery stitch on the spots where the rectangles meet.

A bag for Stephanie. The cord is kept from disappearing into the bag by a piece of material sewn to its ends. I saw this trick in my latest sewing book.

Toy Bags

Fat quarters come in really handy... they make really good toy bags.

These could be embellished with ribbons and buttons, flowers and lace, but because these are for me, I made them plain.

My crochet bag

I picked out a sturdy yarn, tried with my most favorite hook but it turned out too big and loose. I started over with a smaller hook and this is how far I have gone. It still looks a little more loose than Lucy's below but I am loving it.

Somethings are made for love

My crochet baskets sit idle.
I see a lot of possible crochet projects that do not tickle my fancy.
But the heavens parted today and I saw this.
Eye candy galore!
I am borrowing this picture from Lucy at Attic24. She is the creator of this beauty that has my brain thinking yarn color, and my fingers twitching as they remember the movements of yarn and hook.
Here's to being inspired by others.

Funky weaving

Done by kids at the Arts Jam, facilitated by a fabulous quilter.
