Julia Child

Grasshopper whose talents always surprise me, created Julia Child, the cooking queen, using her hand, a pen, and some craft hair.

And so Julia was photograph with Grasshopper's pizza. We had talked about Nora Ephron's interview on NPR and how she said when she cooks she feels the people that taught her the recipe is there with her. In the movie Julie and Julia, something similar happens to the main character. So she fashioned Julia to be there for the kitchen experience.

Cozy pozy

The bed has a new cover.

It took me forever to pull it together. I collected fabric and added as I went along.

Manuel, my teddy, is as cozy as the quilt.

Pinkness

Well... Miss Pinkness is done.

It is a little different from this one in the choice of pattern.

It now belongs to Grasshopper.

On to the next project.

The happy crocheter

My friend Barb calls me the crochet fiend. She brought up this.

I am inclined to agree. Crocheting has saved me from many tormented moments. It turns out that the repetitive actions needed for knitting and crochet can bring the mind and body to a state called a "relaxation response" that is quite similar to what people experience with techniques such as repetitive prayer, yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, and other relaxation disciplines. Research at the Harvard Medical School Mind/Body Institute has found that when an individual is knitting his/her heart rate can drop 11 beats a minute and his/her blood pressure drops as well. These results can have significant health benefits for people who knit and crochet.
And so I crochet.
