Keeping my hands busy

Out of season but I have all I need to make it. And... I need a project to work on.

AWANA gifts

Stick to what works is a motto, until one is ready for a new challenge. These are simply made with different types of fabric, yet the same as all the others I made.

Pinkness

They are easy to make and make great gifts. Lotta is brilliant.

Gifts for teachers

In three weeks the school year ends. That is a major event in families with school age children. Parties and presents of appreciation abound.
I chose a more grown up pattern in the fabric I will use for bags the yougens will give their teachers at the end of the school year.

The orange material is more polyester or something and is very slippery.

Three bags for three teachers.

A blankie

Flannel on one side and that "already quilted looking" material on the other.

It is heavy and soft.

For Grasshopper to snuggle in.

Bunnies in a bag

I made bags using the simple pattern I have perfected from Lotta'a book. The bunnies were from some other book. I've purchase a few, and I confuse the projects. The eyes are embroidered.

Flannel everything here.

They are a gift for 2 sisters who are playmates of my youngens.

This bag has a pocket

I have been eyeing a bag with outside pockets in the book the Sewing Adventure girls picked out for us to use. I needed something pronto as a birthday present for a little girl. It wasn't difficult at all considering I come prepared to conquer a mountain when the thing is only a little hill.

So, this bag now belongs to a little someone who I hope enjoys it as much as I did making it.
Speaking of mountains, there are some more complex bags I'd love to try and I must prepare by staring at a pattern for a week.

The April Project

I did the "pressing thing" this time. I don't usually have an iron handy when I sew, and I use lots of pins instead.

The Piggy Banks

OK, so why make a piggy bank with a bottle that has an opening too small for quarters? 'Cause it's fun, that's why! :-) Here they are, individualized to reflect the girl owner.

The idea came from here.

Without legs, and with broken legs.
Kid made.
